MENTORING AND
INSPIRE
Throughout the INSPIRE service learning and environmental experience components, the kids will meet a number of dedicated, experienced persons with varying professions and work/life experiences. This presents our children with a fantastic opportunity for mentorship.
A mentor can help a child advance within their field of interest or career, and connect the child with opportunities that they may not have otherwise had access to. They do this by sharing their knowledge, helping to identify opportunities in the learner's path, potentially opening doors when the time comes, and assisting in choosing an appropriate study path for the future.
Mentorship is a valuable tool for turning one's vision into reality. Mentor's are expected to guide and advise their mentees, helping them to build a successful life and career within a certain organization or field of knowledge and interest.
Our mentoring program is closely aligned with both the character attributes aspect of INSPIRE and the on-the-job exposure that working environmental and service learning experiences can provide. The relationship between your child and their mentor relies upon the core values to which we adhere.
During the mentoring component of INSPIRE, your child will be matched as closely as possible with a mentor whose chosen profession or trade aligns with your child’s interests. For example, say Sarah is 10 years old or more, and has an interest in building things or has a keen propensity towards tackling problems of climate change. We will attempt to have her mentored by an environmental engineer or technician.
